On the 103rd anniversary of KDKA’s first broadcast (Nov. 2, 2023), the NMB invited press and local officials to a vacant former bank in East Pittsburgh, Pa., that it expects will be its eventual home. The building is just a few hundred yards from where the first broadcast took place. Among the speakers were Hayley Haldeman, chair of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (at podium), who rededicated an historical marker at the site of the first broadcast; State Senator Jay Costa, who is helping NMB procure the building; and then Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, a longtime supporter of the museum.
